Military Relief Societies
If you find yourself dealing with an emergency that brings with it unexpected expenses, financial support is available. Four military relief societies stand ready to help.
Types of Support
Army Emergency Relief Society, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Air Force Aid Society and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance provide no-interest loans, grants and many community programs to eligible Service members and spouses, as well as eligible veterans and their families to assist with:
- Rent and utilities
- Food
- Baby supplies
- Vehicle repair
- Emergency travel
- Scholarships
But the list goes on from here! Each relief society offers a variety of assistance for things you might not expect. They are worth a look!
Making Contact
While the first step is often the hardest, it’s probably the most important. Make contact. Visit their websites and/or call. Military relief society representatives are ready to provide assistance, whether your hot water heater breaks or you need a little extra help covering the essentials.

- Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) – Follow step-by-step directions for contacting NMCRS today: www.nmcrs.org.

- Coast Guard Mutual Assistance – Visit www.cgmahq.org to learn how to apply.
It’s worth noting that the military relief societies have reciprocal agreements with each other giving you greater access to support wherever you are.
