The military provides an affordable option for military families through TRICARE the military’s health insurance. My husband and I have TRICARE Prime, and we love it because we don’t pay any premiums and there’s no deductibles since my husband is active duty. This really came in handy when my husband broke his leg during a deployment, and he was seen by providers on base at no cost to us. If we had civilian health insurance, it might’ve cost quite a bit. I have also had to visit the emergency room in the middle of the night when no doctor’s offices were open, and that was completely covered. I enjoy seeing providers on base who are very understanding when I have any health issues.

Having the option to get my prescriptions on base at no cost to me is also a great perk. The health insurance moves with you no matter where you are in the world. The military wants to ensure all members and their families have affordable health care and not have to worry about surprise health care expenses.
