Shopping for Insurance

Shopping for insurance can be so stressful and zero fun, but very important. You want to make sure you have the right coverage to protect you and your family. I typically shop around about once a year as prices fluctuate. Insurance companies usually offer introductory rates, so switching around can sometimes save you money. Although the process can sometimes be tedious, if you have your current coverage and rates handy, it can lessen the stress. I have also used an insurance broker before. A broker basically shops around for you and finds the best deals. They are paid by the insurance companies, so no cost to you. We recently added recreational insurance for our new camper trailer which was surprisingly affordable!

Thanks for sharing this great tip on shopping for insurance Amy. We hope your family enjoys fun trips in your camper for years to come! Insurance is an integral part of your overall financial readiness. The purpose of insurance is to provide financial protection against loss. There are many different types of insurance including life, health, homeowners, or renters, and auto to name a few. In exchange for premium payments, deductibles and/or co-payments, the insurance company is responsible for coverage up to the limits of the policy. Visit, Insure Your Family for a high-level overview of why insurance is important and how to pick an insurance company.

It is a great idea to shop around for insurance coverage. Make sure to consider how insurance costs fit into your overall spending plan and know that your coverage needs will likely change over time. For example, property value, family size, and your financial situation can all affect the type and level of coverage that are right for you. Location can also affect your insurance needs so remember to review and update your coverage when you PCS.
