May 10 is Military Spouse Appreciation Day. So, this month, MilSpouse Money Mission™ is honoring military spouses for their service and sacrifice at home with the top 10 reasons to love and appreciate military spouses.
Military spouses keep their families moving in the right direction.
On average, military families move every two to three years. Military spouses play a pivotal role in these PCS moves. They help their families start over, get settled and integrated into new communities.
Military spouses make fantastic friends.
From duty station to duty station, over and over again, military spouses make lifelong friendships. These friendships create the tribes that help sustain military spouses through long deployments and separations from their Service members and extended families. But just as quickly as they make friends, they must say “see you later,” and start over when they move. Still, this tribe is one of the best parts of military life.

With their Service members away due to frequent deployments and trainings, military spouses are often the main caregivers to their children. MilSpouses juggle it all — children, homes, jobs and finances.

Military spouses are movers and shakers.
Military spouses are speaking up on important issues that matter to military families, like housing and quality health care. You only need to tune into the recent news to see the progress that’s being made on a wide range of issues, such as privatized military housing!

With their Service members on the go, military spouses are often the chief financial officers within their homes, managing their family finances. They budget, insure their families, and manage savings.

While the Department of Defense has worked to make it easier for military spouses to transfer their professional licenses from state to state, this may still be a challenge for some. Military spouses spend time and money to obtain the appropriate licenses and certifications after they PCS to continue their careers.

Military spouses are leaders in their communities. Time and time again, they actively participate in or lead family groups, mentor other spouses, and support their communities wherever the need arises.
